A New Moon in Sagittarius Tarot Spread

By Tina Gong

Published

The eternal globetrotter, a member of this sign acquires the travel bug by their mere birth under the careful eye of Sagittarius. The energy emanating from this constellation gives them a constant and unstoppable urge to always expand their horizons, see everything that there is to see, experience everything there is to experience, and gather up as much knowledge as it is humanly possible. With their philosophical outlook on life, they actively work on becoming the sage source of wisdom, proud of their ability to see everything from every perspective.

What the New Moon in Sagittarius will be About

This, however, can get them in trouble and produce situations not always appertaining to the highest, most philosophical persona they aim for. With the New Moon appearing in Sagittarius, their nature shines through a slightly different lens, showing them to be impatient to the point of carelessness. Their thirst for knowledge and itchy feet can lead them astray and away even from people that care about them the most, be it family, friends or lovers. While they are in no way heartless, some may interpret the life choices the Sagittarius makes as such.

With this not so nice tendency to commit a romantic hit-and-run, the Sagittarius can sometimes become far too adventurous for commitment, overconfident in their charm and ability to replace old friends (and lovers) with new ones wherever they go. While they do generally experience this on a regular basis, and luck in forming new friendships is nearly ever-present, on occasion it can backfire quite badly and leave them stranded in the middle of nowhere with no one to turn to but themselves. The painful introspection that ensues gives them a wakeup call and gets them back on track - if only for a short period of time.

Re-evaluating Our Paths Ahead for the Sagittarius New Moon

Example of a New Moon in Sagittarius Tarot Spread

With Sagittarius' wanderlust in full swing, it might be good to step back and reflect on what we are doing to ourselves and others. How do we treat our friends and do we give them the time and the attention they deserve? With the rush we are all in in this day and age, we sometimes tend to forget to give someone a call, pay them a visit, get them a birthday present as a small token of attention or even check their latest post on social media to make sure they're ok. Our entire existence is marred by being far too busy, by always chasing something - so we forget to live.

Instead of fervently participating in the rat race or climbing the Himalayas to find the meaning of life, we should perhaps direct our philosophical nature towards self-reflection and we may as well find what we've been looking for all along within ourselves and within those around us. Our own personality and charm that have drawn certain people to our side over time may have done more for us than we think. Those people that have stuck with you through thick and thin may be far more valuable than you realize. Learn to appreciate them and carve out a portion of your schedule to thank everyone for being there for you on your journey. They will remember that.

A New Moon in Sagittarius Tarot Spread

To start off, we’re going to go through our decks and find the Temperance card, which is the corresponding card in the tarot to the Sagittarius zodiac sign. We’re going to use this as a significator of sorts, to help us focus our thoughts on this Sagittarius new moon.

Shuffle the cards as usual, draw and lay them out as pictured.

  1. What is it that I am searching for? - What is my quest during this period and cycle? What answers am I looking for?
  2. What have I left behind in that search? - Who can I reach out to again? What has been forgotten but can be reclaimed?
  3. What am I not committing to? - Where is it that I am too focused on exploring, and not focused on developing?
  4. What have I been too careless about? - What have I stopped appreciating? What is it in my life have I forgotten to focus on?

This article describes my life on one level in such an incisive way, it confirms my belief in Tarot. I have come to that point in my life where I do feel stranded, much like Persephone, kidnapped by the god of the underworld to spend 6 months of the year in Hades! Except those 6 months seem to be chunks of my life, away from friends & family. My adult life started quite late in many respects & I was duped into moving to another country by a Capricorn, whom I thought would not be so dishonest or a gambler. I wouldn’t be surprised to read that they have con artist tendencies. I became dependent & wary & now we are both in a limbo as he waits to hear his fate after “gambling” in a sense with his finances. There just never seemed to be a way to leave this guy who has exacted his own brand of revenge because I held him to his “promises” at one time. So here I am at 59, stranded in a foreign country, without friends at all, no hope of making new ones & Capricorn ‘mud’ being poured onto the flames of my traditional Saggie optimism & ruling planet Jupiter’s largesse on a daily basis. I work very hard at trying to find the positives in a situation that may well never change for the better at this late stage of my life, constantly locking horns with this increasingly morose, degenerating, mean & secretive old goat.
